A Past Master of Mourne Masonic Lodge in 1984, Past King of Iveagh Royal Arch Chapter No. 80 in 2000 and a member of Newry Preceptory, Harold has been class leader in the Mourne Class of Instruction assisting the brethren in the Newry District as they move forward in office. |

Harold was invested as a Provincial Grand Steward in 1993 and later became a Provincial Grand Instructor in 1996. | |||
On Saturday 5th October 2002 at the quarterly communication of Grand Lodge held in the Killyhelvin Hotel Harold was elected to the Grand Lodge of Instruction. Also in that year Harold was appointed as a Provincial Grand Director of Ceremonies in the Provincial Grand Lodge of Down, a post he held for eleven years until February 2012. | |||
